MISSION
The Hudson River Repertory Company, Inc., a not for profit organization, seeks to present highly entertaining as well as thought provoking works of theatre that deserve more exposure, including plays and musicals of both emerging and established playwrights. Special emphasis is given to high quality works that offer strong roles for women, opportunities for non-traditional casting, and, with an emphasis on comedy, that lift the spirits of a wide audience, expressed in both live performance or mass media. By presenting productions both in NYC and the Westchester area, Hudson River Repertory Company serves to link the under-utilized actors with audiences that have limited choices for live theatre in their local area.
Hudson River Repertory Company, Inc. was founded by Laurie Eliscu (aka Calahan), a professional director, actress, and college educator, who holds a Master of Fine Arts in theatre from Sarah Lawrence College. She has taught performing arts and communications courses in colleges throughout the New York area. Her directing and acting credits extend from the university and community level to professional Equity productions. Having been granted permission from the New York State Department of Education, Hudson River Repertory Company, Inc. will also provide theatre workshops to train members of the community in performing arts.
